Progress won’t be achieved if you insist on thinking inside an "old box".
In the unforgiving world of the recording business, where you’re nobody unless you're somebody, “A Simple Promise” is the surreal and painful story of finding your way through life’s harsh lessons and realizing sometimes, what truly matters comes from places you least expect. The movie is about love, pursuing dreams, sacrifice and how we define success.
‘A Simple Promise’, a sweet and affecting little independent love story about dreams deferred.
There a couple of things that work in the favor of ‘A Simple Promise’ with the first being that it is a film with a great heart and second being that it is a film with an equally important message.

What or who are you willing to sacrifice for your dreams?
Directing a movie like this can really spoil a person. First I was given a script that made my job almost a “paint by numbers” exercise. Then I was blessed to get one of the most talented casts imaginable. Add to that, a dedicated crew and it was all I could ask for.
Now I am not saying that production was a cakewalk. Like every independent movie with limited cash, there were many times I wondered if we would make it all the way to the finish line. But I trusted the producer (I had better since she is also my wife) and just focused on telling the story. And what a story it is.
I am incredibly pleased and amazed at what we brought to the screen and learned a great deal about letting the story speak for itself.
-Earnest Harris, Director
This movie has been a long, labor of love. The very first time we read the script, from Los Angeles writer Max Luces, my husband, also a producer and the director of the film, and I knew we had to see this story made. To us it is personal. But we also know many, many people who have gone through similar trials, as do the characters in “A Simple Promise. So we knew this film would resonate with audiences of all kinds. This is a universal and timeless tale, of love, dreams, family and sacrifice. Everyone can relate to that.
The beauty of this movie is that its story gave us the inspiration to keep going and to see that movie lovers everywhere could get the benefit of its message.
